So. It’s the age of being young forever and we are all fighting hard to look like we’re in our 20 way up in our 30s. All for it – but what makes us age and how can we live our lives limiting the effect our lifestyle has on our skin and body? We want to make you understand what happens in your skin and what you can do – in an easy, non-complex way.
THE SCOOP OF WHAT AGING IS IN YOUR BODY
Damage to the skin occurs when it is exposed to free radicals, due to oxidation. It’s basically the same thing that happens when an apple slice turns brown, or how when an open coconut get exposed to the air and starts to break down. It’s a natural process happening to all cells – including the ones in our body. Oxidation is necessary to keep our bodies running but as it occurs roughly 2% of our cells get damaged and turn into free radicals.
Free radicals binds themselves with other molecules and damage DNA structures in them – and this is where skin changes start. To protect ourselves from this oxidation, we need antioxidants (yes, seems so obvious doesn’t it?). With the way we lead our lives these days we’re not treating our bodies like temples – exposing them to unnecessary stress, harmful rays of the sun, pollution – we need antioxidants to stay healthy and keep our skin in mint condition.
Ok. Hydration you guys. It is key to keeping the body functioning. Everybody keeps saying it – but it really is so important. To keep it simple we’re just going to focus on the anti-aging benefits of drinking water in this post – but read more about what drinking enough water can do for your body here
Basically – all of our organs require lots of water to function properly. If we stay dehydrated for long stretches, every cell, organ, and system in the body has to work harder, which means we will age faster. Drinking enough water literally keeps you young feeling, looking, and acting – for longer.
EAT YOUR GREENS
Eat plenty of colorful fruits and vegetables. The antioxidants in leafy greens, deep red tomatoes, blueberries and carrots help stop those unstable molecules (free radicals) from damaging healthy cells. So, for every meal, fill about half your plate with fruits and vegetables (5-9 servings/day). Looks delicious – nourishes your body and soul.
COCONUT OIL TO STAY YOUNG
What you put on your skin also has an effect on how it’s aging. Coconut oil helps minimize wrinkles by promoting collagen production (the fibrous protein that connects tissue) and replacement.
Coconut oil is a medium-chain fatty acid that protects and heals the skin at the same time. It’s also an effective sunscreen, blocking out 20 percent of harmful rays. Basically the oil puts nutrients back into your skin, as opposed to conventional products that suffocate it and provide no nutritional benefits.
Moisturize your face and body with pure coconut oil to stay younger longer.
TREAT YOUR BODY LIKE A TEMPLE
It goes without saying. If you treat your body well it will last longer. Treat your body like you would a pair of Louboutins and you’ll be fine. In the end staying healthy is the only way to lead a rich life and really benefit from everything this world has to offer.
